INtEResTiNGly  thE gROUp ~ The ROnnETTes – were a 1960s girl group from New York City, best known for their work with producer Phil Spector. The group consisted of lead singer Veronica Bennett (later known as Ronnie Spector); her older sister Estelle Bennett and their cousin Nedra Talley. The group began singing as teenagers in Spanish Harlem where they grew up with their official recording career beginning at Colpix Records in 1961.

In March 1963 the group was signed by Phil Spector’s Philles Records, where they reached the peak of their success.

Becoming one of the most popular girl groups of the 1960s, they placed a total of eight songs on the Billboard Top 100, five of which became top forty-hits. Some of the group’s most famous songs include .. . “Be My Baby“, “Baby, I Love You“, “(The Best Part Of) Breakin’ Up“, and “Walking in the Rain.”[1]

In late 1964 the group released their only studio album, the now classic ~ Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes Featuring Veronica ~ which ranked number 427 on Rolling Stone’s “Five-Hundred Greatest Albums of All Time.”[2])  (this izz exerpt from WIKIPAEDIA zweepz – aNd not my own wurks)

Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow

lyrics  (C.King/G.Goffin)

Tonight you’re mine completely
You give your love so sweetly
Tonight the light of love is in your eyes
But will you love me tomorrow?
Is this a lasting treasure?
Or just a moment’s pleasure?
Can I, can I believe the magic of your sigh?
Will you still love me tomorrow?
Tonight with words unspoken
You say that I’m the only one
But will my heart be broken
When the night meets the morning sun?
I’d like to know that your love
Is a love I can be sure of
So tell, tell me now, and I won’t ask again
Will you still love me tomorrow?
Tell me now, and I won’t ask again
Will you still love me?
Will you still love me?
Will you still love me tomorrow?

“Will You Love Me Tomorrow”, also known as “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow”, is a song written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King and originally recorded by The Shirelles. It has been recorded by many artists and was ranked among Rolling Stone ‘s list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time at #125. The song is notable for being the first song by an all-girl group to reach #1 in the US. In 1960The Shirelles released their version with “Boys” on the B-side. The single’s first pressing was labelled simply “Tomorrow”, then lengthened later. However, Owens recalled on Jim Parsons’ syndicated oldies radio program, Shake Rattle Showtime, that some radio stations had banned the record because they had felt the lyrics were too sexually charged. This version of the song is currently ranked as the 126th greatest song of all time, as well as the best song of 1960, by Acclaimed Music.

‘HE’S SO FINE’

by THE CHIFFONS

(Do-lang, do-lang, do-lang)
(Do-lang, do-lang)

He’s so fine
(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)
Wish he were mine
(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)
That handsome boy overthere
(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)
The one with the wavy hair
(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)
I don’t know how I’m gonna do it
(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)
But I’m gonna make him mine
(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)
He’s the envy of all the girls
(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)
It’s just a matter of time
(Do-lang-do-lang)

He’s a soft [Spoken] guy
(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)
Also seems kinda shy
(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)
Makes me wonder if I
(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)
Should even give him a try
(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)
But then I know he can’t shy
(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)
He can’t shy away forever
(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)
And I’m gonna make him mine
(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)
If it takes me forever
(Do-lang-do-lang)

He’s so fine
(Oh yeah)
Gotta be mine
(Oh yeah)
Sooner or later
(Oh yeah)
I hope it’s not later
(Oh yeah)
We gotta get together
(Oh yeah)
The sooner the better
(Oh yeah)
I just can’t wait, I just can’t wait
To be held in his arms

If I were a queen
(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)
And he asked me to leave my throne
(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)
I’ll do anything that he asked
(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)
Anything to make him my own
(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)
For he’s so fine
(So fine) so fine
(So fine) he’s so fine
(So fine) so fine
(So fine) he’s so fine

Martha and the Vandellas (known from 1967 to 1972 as Martha Reeves and the Vandellas) were among the most successful groups of the Motown roster during the period 1963–1967. In contrast to other Motown groups such as The Supremes and The Marvelettes, Martha and the Vandellas were known for a harder, R&B sound, typified by “(Love Is Like a) Heat Wave“, “Nowhere to Run“, “Jimmy Mack” and, their signature song, “Dancing in the Street” In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked Martha and the Vandellas[1] #96 on their list of the 100 greatest artists of all time. (WikIPAEdIa )

THe DIxIe CuPs : ~  The group hit the top of the charts in 1964 with “Chapel of Love,” a song that Phil SpectorJeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich had originally written for The Ronettes. The trio consisted of sisters Barbara Ann and Rosa Lee Hawkins; plus their cousin Joan Marie Johnson, from the Calliope housing project in New Orleans. They first sang together in grade school. Originally they were to be called Little Miss and the Muffets, but were named The Dixie Cups just prior to their first release

By 1963 the trio had decided to pursue a career in music and began singing locally as the Meltones. Within a year Joe Jones, a successful singer in his own right with the Top Five 1960 single “You Talk Too Much,” became their manager. After working with them for five months, Jones took them to New York, where record producers / songwriters Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller signed them to their new Red Bird Records.

Be My BaBy

The Ronnettes

The night we met, I knew I needed you so
And if I had the chance, I’d never let you go.
So won’t you say you love me,
I’ll make you so proud of me.
We’ll make ’em turn their heads every place we go.

So won’t you, please, (be my, be my baby)
Be my little baby, (my one and only baby)
Say you’ll be my darlin’, (be my, be my baby)
Be my baby now, (my one and only baby)
Wha-oh-oh-oh.

I’ll make you happy, baby, just wait and see.
For every kiss you give me I’ll give you three.
Oh, since the day I saw you
I have been waiting for you.
You know I will adore you ’til eternity.

So won’t you, please, (be my, be my baby)
Be my little baby, (my one and only baby)
Say you’ll be my darlin’, (be my, be my baby)
Be my baby now, (my one and only baby)
Wha-oh-oh-oh.

So come on and, please (be my, be my baby)
Be my little baby, (my one and only baby)
Say you’ll be my darlin’, (be my, be my baby)
Be my baby now, (my one and only baby)
Wha-oh-oh-oh.

(Be my, be my baby), Be my little baby.
